![]() ![]() I'm not joking when I say I was dying from page 1. "I keep waiting for rescue to come, for a dawn to bloom, for a star to hatch, for a hope to surface." yes, i died watching thisīut what happens when she truly opens her eyes to the world out there and leaves behind her cage? Well. She lives alone and locked up, but she's grateful to him because Midas saved her and kept her safe for years. Known to all as Midas's favored, Auren is golden-touched-she literally is covered in gold (except she's not actually made of gold of course).Īuren is not to leave her cage nor be touched by anyone except that disgusting pig King Midas. Safe in her golden cage, protected from all who could cause her harm. Now it's been 10 years since then and Auren lives in the palace. "A cage is a cage, no matter how gilded."įor most of her childhood, Auren was subjected to child trafficking and all kinds of abuse until at the age of 15, King Midas comes into her life and saves her. There are of course the other three kingdoms but I have no idea what they're famous for because I either forgot or it wasn't mentioned. King Midas, a disgusting pig aka the Golden King, rules the Sixth Kingdom known for it's riches, while King Fulke, another disgusting pig who is allies with Midas, rules the Fifth Kingdom, and King Ravinger idk yet if he's also a pig or not-known for having the strongest & largest army force of all-rules the Fourth Kingdom. In the land of Orea, there lies six kingdoms. But I can see that the author is setting up everything and Auren's character is definitely going to develop from here on out. Unfortunately for majority of the book, things like that happen which I hated and because of that I just really can't give this a higher rating. It is hard to rate this though because of all the abuse that happens in here, and so obviously I didn't enjoy those parts. I mean I was supposed to be angry, anyone would with the terrible events and characters in Gild. I was debating over my rating for awhile but then I realized that while I was angry understatement over a lot of things that happened in here, I didn't completely hate this. Anyone who plans to read this-make sure to look at the trigger warnings and prepare yourself. I knew this was going to be dark, but ahaha I wasn't expecting this□ This is definitely adult. Literally so many times I had to put the book down and stop reading because of the disturbing scenes like wow does this have all the trigger warnings out there. This is book one in a series.Īn alternative cover edition for this ASIN can be found here.Īll these disgusting sexist pig-headed men can go to hell :) It is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. Please Note: This book contains explicit content and darker elements, including mature language, violence, and rape. With romance, intrigue, and danger, the gilded world of Orea will grip you from the very first page. ![]() This compelling adult fantasy series is as addictive as it is unexpected. ![]() But the monsters on the other side might make me wish I’d never left. ![]() And I realize that everything I thought I knew about Midas might be wrong.īecause these bars I’m kept in, no matter how gilded, are still just a cage. Until war comes to the kingdom and a deal is struck. And even though I don’t leave the confines of the palace, I’m safe. He gave me protection, and I gave him my heart. I’m the woman he Gold-Touched to show everyone that I belong to him. Dug me out of the slums and placed me on a pedestal. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold. Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. ![]()
